About us

The DJKT’s musical company is, after the musical company of the National Moravian-Silesian Theatre in Ostrava, the longest-running company in the Czech Republic that continuously engages in entertainment and musical theatre productions. The history of today's musical company of DJKT dates back to the first operetta productions by an independent Czech theatre in Pilsen in the second half of the 19th century, when operetta, together with plays with songs, was a dominant representative of the musical-entertainment theatre.

Thanks to excellent soloists and first-class guests, ambitious production plan and successful staging of top titles, such as Sweeney Todd, Billy Elliot, Elisabeth, My Fair Lady, etc., the DJKT’s musical company has unequivocally ranked among the top Czech performers in the last decade and has been increasingly experiencing success on an international scale.

In recent years, with the exception of ‘Covid seasons’, the company presented an average of 180 performances at three DJKT venues, which were visited by approximately 60,000 spectators per year.

In addition to the normal daily operation, which consists of presenting shows and preparing new productions, the company organizes regular special projects – concerts, traditional meetings of performers and spectators before new premieres, Sunday musical matinées, occasional events with fans and various presentational events.
