THE VISIT
Ballet adaptation of the tragicomedy by Friedrich Dürrenmatt
Dürrenmatt's The Visit questions the triangular relationship between money, morality and guilt. What is fascinating about this tragic comedy is that it reveals social injustices in the same way today, in the times of crisis and scarcity of financial resources. In a different light, we will see these social mechanisms that determine Dürrenmatt's actions. It is in the interplay of affection and rejection, of seeming sympathy and brutal exclusion, of individual and collective guilt – here, in the expressive devices of body language, without the flattery of Dürrenmatt's dialogues, that they can be most clearly felt and dissected.
Choreographer and director Anna Vita, transforms a rigorously narrated, visually powerful chamber piece on the Small Stage, organically incorporating film, words, elements of the grotesque and expressive dance into her modern ballet style.
